Who We Are

From early morning till dusk for over 40 years, our paddlers have earned their way onto the international sprint racing scene.

About Us

What's New?

What an incredible weekend of racing at Lake Banook!

Our athletes delivered outstanding performances on the water, bringing home an amazing 16 gold, 17 silver, and 17 bronze medals, while finishing third overall in team points. Every race, every paddle stroke, and every cheer from the shoreline reflected what it means to be part of Team Cheema.

Some of the many highlights included:

  • A thrilling C15 final where Maskwa edged us by just 0.200 seconds. It was a heart-stopping race, and we'll be ready for the rematch at Nationals!

  • Elizabeth Fanok making an unforgettable Cheema debut with five individual gold medals.

  • Our PaddleAll team putting together spectacular individual and crew performances, earning an incredible collection of medals.

  • Ryerson Eisener powering to gold in the 6000m.

  • Katie Cooper capturing five gold medals across individual and crew events.

  • Erik Nilsson earning four medals over an outstanding weekend.

The truth is, it's impossible to recognize every special moment. There were personal bests, breakthrough races, courageous performances, and countless reasons to celebrate. (The full medal table is below.  Remember, each crew boat medal counts as one medal in standings but we've listed everyone who collected a medal this weekend in both individual and crew boats.)

But perhaps the greatest highlight wasn't measured in medals.

It was the way you supported one another.

Watching teammates line the docks, cheering until they were hoarse as Cheema paddlers crossed the finish line, was something truly special. That spirit of encouragement, friendship, and pride is what makes Cheema more than a club, it makes us a family. Those moments are worth more than any medal.

Tomorrow is a holiday. Sleep in, recharge, and come back on Tuesday ready for an unforgettable Paddle-A-Thon filled with paddling, fun and yummy bbq and treats.

Congratulations to every athlete, coach, volunteer, official, and family member who made this weekend such a success.

We couldn't be prouder of all of you.
