The program will run from 8:30am until 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, March 10-14. Cheema is well established in our community with over 50 years' experience building Canadian Youth. Our program will take full advantage of our beautiful and secluded 20-acre property, our clubhouse, grounds, and specialized off-water paddling equipment, as well as the McDonald Sports Park that is next to Cheema, connected by walking trails.
FUNdamentals is based on fostering physical literacy through a variety of games and movement experiences with an emphasis on preparing youth to take part in the sport of canoe-kayak. Our Learn to Train program introduces the paddler to the basics of Canoe-Kayak and sets them on a course to competing in the summer if that is their intention.
Progressive exercises and simulated paddling experiences designed to introduce or enhance the basics of the sport are taught throughout the camp. Various forms of physical fitness and games are organized in our multi-purpose room or in the natural setting around Cheema.
Our experienced coaches will work with participants and their parents to ensure attendees are grouped according to their interests and capabilities. Groups of 12 or less will be provided with individual attention, based on their age, experience, skill and fitness levels.
