A-M-A-Z-I-N-G Success at ADCKC Trials

June 3rd, 2024

Way to go Cheema athletes! We are VERY proud of achievements.

What is important to remember here is that in many, many cases our athletes were competing in races WELL ABOVE their age category. The dedication and hard work really shone through and bodes well for summer competition.

Nice to see the #blackandgold dominate on the water.

March 30th, 2024

A message from Marley:

My name is Marley Fraser, and I am a university student studying psychology and neuroscience. I work between 5 different aquatic centres year-round as a certified lifeguard and instructor. I'm absolutely thrilled to step into the role of Senior Aquatics Lead this summer at Cheema. Having spent years immersed in the world of aquatics, I'm excited to bring my passion for swimming and water safety to the forefront. Whether it's teaching swimming lessons, organizing open swims, or ensuring everyone's safety and enjoyment in the water, I'm committed to creating a fun and supportive aquatic environment for all.

Please join us in giving Marley a warm Cheema welcome.

If you have questions about the swimming lessions being offered at Cheema this summer, please reach out to marley.fraser@cheema.ca or our Registrar Sharon at registrar@cheema.ca

Emma Zoldy Joins Cheema Coaching Team

March 18th, 2024

I’m excited to announce that Emma Zoldy will be joining the Cheema coaching staff this summer as the Assistant Kayak Discipline Coach starting April 8th.

Emma started paddling at the Cobourg Dragon Boat and Canoe Club and was part of the club’s first cohort of competitive sprint canoe/kayak athletes. After a few years of racing with the Ontario Team, she decided to make the move to Richmond Hill Canoe Club to join their High-Performance program.

Emma coached youth and adult programs part-time while competing as an athlete, but in 2022, she decided to commit to coaching full-time. Most recently, Emma held the position of Assistant Head Coach at Carleton Place Canoe Club where she worked closely with both canoe and kayak athletes in the High-Performance program.

Emma is a NCCP certified coach and a Registered Kinesiologist currently pursuing certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Emma is passionate about taking a holistic, athlete-centered approach to coaching by empowering athletes with skills and knowledge to improve their own performance.

Emma tells me she is thrilled to begin this exciting new chapter at Cheema. We are equally thrilled and are looking forward to her contributing to our elite kayak programs and mentoring our summer coaches.  Her positivity and enthusiasm are hallmarks of her coaching style and a great fit for the Cheema Culture.

Please welcome Emma to our community!

Scott Logan, Cheema Executive Director
